Community Koala Forum – 10 September 2023
Koala Action is holding a Community Koala Forum in Imbil on Sunday, 10th September. The Forum will commence at 10:00 am (with sign-on from 9:30 am) will conclude around 2:00 pm and is being held in the Imbil Showgrounds Hall.
We have a number of expert speakers in the fields of koala research, conservation and rescue as well as local input on koala conservation from Koala Action, Gympie Regional Council and a bush regenerator helping local landholders restore koala habitat.
Our keynote speaker is Dr Deidre de Villiers who is a passionate ecologist and koala conservationist. Dr de Villiers has been working with koalas for over 25 years. During this time she has completed a PhD investigating urban koala populations, including their distribution and abundance, habitat utilisation, conservation requirements and threat mitigation.
Dr Romane Cristescu, the Director of Detection Dogs for Conservation, will also join us along with Rachel Lyons, Wildcare educator, who is heavily involved in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. Bree Galbraith, from Gympie Council, will update us on Gympie Wildwatch, habitat mapping and other Council-related matters.
Sign on for the Forum, and morning tea, commence at 9:30 am. A light lunch will follow the day’s program. As a result we need to know numbers attending the Forum so that we can advise the caterers. Please email email@example.com to register and also to let us know of any special dietary requirements for attendees.
